Overview

A compact, step-by-step playbook that shows how a small team can convert one blog post into: a hero image, a short social video, and several ready-to-post social captions. The workflow is built for limited production resources — smartphone, free/low-cost apps, and AI tools — and includes a 1-week calendar template and downloadable CSV.

Why this works for small teams

  • Save time: produce multiple assets from one validated article.
  • Keep messaging consistent across channels.
  • Use repeatable templates so the next repurpose takes under an hour.

Quick workflow

  1. Research & pick the source post
  2. Generate a hero image and thumbnail
  3. Script and produce a 15–30s video
  4. Write platform-tailored social captions
  5. Schedule and measure

1. Research & pick the source post (15–30 minutes)

  • Choose a post with one clear takeaway and 3 supporting points.
  • Prefer posts with evidence of demand: Search Console impressions, referral traffic, or recent social traction.
  • If a page shows falling clicks but steady impressions, run the checks in the Content refresh strategy before repurposing.

2. Generate a hero image (10–20 minutes)

  • Keep it simple: single sentence headline or short phrase, a clean background, and icons that represent image, video and social.
  • Tools: AI image generators, Canva, or a phone photo. Match your brand palette (use Postellite colours for recognisability) and export two sizes: 16:9 hero and 1:1 thumbnail.
  • Example: use the site’s AI image generation for quick variants.

3. Script a 15–30s video (20–40 minutes)

  • Structure: Hook (0–2s) → Core idea (2–20s) → Close/CTA (20–30s).
  • Script from the article intro + three H2s; write burned captions to match each shot.
  • Produce the vertical master (1080×1920), then export a square and a landscape thumbnail.
  • Tools: CapCut, Canva, Adobe Express or Postellite’s AI video generation.

4. Social captions & platform hooks (30 minutes)

  • Produce 2–3 caption variants per network. Keep one CTA: “Download the 1-week repurposing template” and an engagement prompt: “Which format are you weakest at — image, video, or social?”
  • Example LinkedIn caption:

"Turn one blog into five assets in under a day. Download our free 1-week repurposing template and tell us — which format are you weakest at? https://www.postellite.com/resources/assets/repurposing-template.csv"

  • Create a Reel/TikTok caption with an immediate hook and a saved timestamp for the first 6s.

5. 1-week calendar template (example)

Example deliverables (what to hand to the publisher)

  • Hero image (16:9) — also used as the article cover.
  • Square thumbnail (1:1) for social.
  • Vertical master video (1080×1920) + square cut + landscape thumbnail.
  • 5 caption drafts (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, Newsletter).
  • 1-week calendar CSV.

Scheduling & promotion (stagger for signals)

  • Seed the hero image to an email list first to create early clicks.
  • Publish the vertical master at your peak Reels window; follow up with the square cut 2–4 hours later.
  • If the clip performs, run a small paid boost and ask partners for backlinks to the article.

Measure success

Track views, clicks, downloads (add UTM tags), and on-page engagement. Use the number of saves/shares on social and first‑6s retention on vertical clips as leading indicators.

Tips to scale

  • Batch: produce all visuals and captions in one session.
  • Reuse: turn short video frames into static images and carousels.
  • Standardise: keep consistent filenames, export presets and prompt templates.
